Several roads in the city are in bad shape. The residents of these areas waited for summers to come so that the roads are repaired, macadamized, but, summer is all set to end, while the winter is ready to make its entry, but these roads have not been repaired. Nothing has been done.
Taking the case of Dr Ali Jan Road, which leads to the premier healthcare institute of J&K, the condition of the road is such that, it becomes quite difficult to commute. The road has been repaired, macadamized in pieces. While one finds a perfect road to some point, a potholed, bumpy road is also there to welcome the commuters.
On one side, when people are witnessing roads being coloured, painted and whatnot, the commoners ask: what about my road which is in a poor condition. One fails to understand the logic behind making the roads beautiful even when the majority of the roads in the city crave more attention. The beatification and other add on things on the roads should be the last stage while as the first stage needs to focus on making the roads in the city better and motorable. We don’t need to have two contrasting faces of city road: one with flowers, paintings and the other with potholes and whatnot.
There is a need for the administration to ramp up the repair works of the city road in a swift manner so that we could, first of all, get rid of bumpy rides, and then, we might think, as well as appreciate painting the roads.
