77th R-Day: LG Sinha Hails ‘Operation Sindoor’ as Strategic Milestone

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, in his Republic Day address on Sunday, hailed operations Sindoor and Mahadev as a defining demonstration of India’s strategic resolve, asserting that any terrorist attack on Indian soil would be treated as an “act of war.”

“India made it unequivocally clear that any terrorist attack on its soil would be treated as an act of war. Operation Sindoor was not merely a military action; it was a declaration of India’s strategic resolve,” the Lt. Governor stated while extending greetings to the citizens of the Union Territory and outlined a vision centered on security, development, and inclusive growth.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the architects of the Indian Republic, acknowledging the Constitution’s enduring ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity that continue to define the nation’s ethos.

A significant portion of the address was dedicated to the security forces. Sinha offered “special commendation” to the armed forces, paramilitary units, and the Jammu & Kashmir Police for their vigilance and sacrifice. He specifically highlighted Operation Sindoor, launched after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, terming it a “defining moment in India’s national security doctrine.”

“Following the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Operation Sindoor emerged as a defining moment in India’s national security doctrine. India made it unequivocally clear that any terrorist attack on its soil would be treated as an act of war. Operation Sindoor was not merely a military action; it was a declaration of India’s strategic resolve. I also commend exemplary courage and professionalism displayed by the personnel of Indian Army, Jammu & Kashmir Police and the CRPF. Through Operation Mahadev, they eliminated the three Pakistani terrorists involved in the attack and delivered justice for the dignity of our mothers and sisters,” LG Said

He further lauded the success of Operation Mahadev, in which security forces eliminated the three Pakistani terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack, stating it “delivered justice for the dignity of our mothers and sisters.”

The Lt. Governor also appreciated the Jammu & Kashmir Police for uncovering a nationwide terror network in October-November of last year and preventing several potential attacks, calling the personnel “India’s true heroes.”

Shifting focus to development, Sinha called for a “renewed purpose and collective determination” to guide Jammu & Kashmir towards greater prosperity. He emphasized accelerating economic progress by reinforcing areas of excellence and building future-ready infrastructure.

The address set ambitious goals for the UT, including aspiring for a leadership role in the knowledge-based economy and information technology sectors. A key resolve highlighted was to ensure “every citizen, especially our youth and women, has fair access to quality education, healthcare, and equal opportunities to fully realise their potential.”

The Lt. Governor urged educational institutions to prepare for a future driven by innovation and technological proficiency. “I extend my warm salutations to our dedicated workers, farmers, doctors, engineers, innovators, entrepreneurs, teachers, students, youth, women, businesspersons, artists, writers, industry leaders and volunteers of civil society. Through their steadfast commitment and tireless efforts, they continue to fortify our democracy and drive holistic progress across the Union Territory.”

“With renewed purpose and collective determination, let us commit ourselves to guiding Jammu & Kashmir towards greater heights of development and prosperity. We must harness and consolidate our collective strengths to accelerate economic progress with unwavering determination. By reinforcing our established areas of excellence and creating robust, future-ready infrastructure across Jammu & Kashmir, we must also pursue with courage and consistency the new and emerging engines of growth. Our institutions of higher education must prepare themselves for a future driven by constant innovation, technological proficiency, and a dynamic entrepreneurial ethos,” LG said.

Concluding his message, Manoj Sinha called upon all citizens to work with sincerity for the greater good, reaffirming a collective dedication to “building a strong, prosperous, and developed India.” “Let us set our sights on a leadership role in the knowledge-based economy and in information technology. Let us resolve to ensure that every citizen, especially our youth and women, has fair access to quality education, healthcare, and equal opportunities to fully realise their potential. May each one of us rise to our responsibilities with sincerity and selflessness, working for the greater good of society. Together, let us reaffirm our steadfast dedication to building a strong, prosperous, and developed India,” LG Sinha added.
