Successful conduct of Amarnath Yatra will restore confidence: LG Sinha

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called upon devotees from across the nation to join the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, scheduled to commence on July 3.

Addressing a press conference at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor assured that meticulous preparations and robust security arrangements have been made for a safe and spiritually enriching pilgrimage.

Speaking about the security measures in place, the Lieutenant Governor said, “The security grid has been strengthened, and multi-layer security arrangements have been implemented. The Indian Army, CAPFs, and Jammu & Kashmir Police have ensured comprehensive measures to make the pilgrimage safe for everyone.” He added that Integrated Command and Control Centres have been established to monitor the Yatra in real-time, and specific measures have been taken at vulnerable spots to ensure the safety of all pilgrims.

Highlighting the infrastructure improvements made by the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), the Lieutenant Governor remarked, “We have widened the Yatra tracks to nearly 12 feet in most stretches. The Kalimata stretch, which was previously narrow and steep, has been made safer with a gentler slope. Safety handrails have also been installed to further protect pilgrims.”

He also shared updates on lighting and power connectivity, noting, “Grid power connectivity has been extended along the Baltal route up to the Holy Cave and from the Holy Cave to Panjtarni. This ensures illumination and safety for pilgrims traveling during low light conditions.”

Accommodation facilities have also been expanded significantly. “We have enhanced the lodging capacity at our Yatri Niwas complexes in Baltal, Nunwan, and Pantha Chowk, accommodating up to 2,700 pilgrims collectively. A digital pre-paid system for hiring ponies, pithus, and palkis will also make the process smoother for devotees,” said the Lieutenant Governor.

Speaking about improvements at the Holy Cave, the Lieutenant Governor said, “We have replaced the wooden darshan platform with a stainless steel structure featuring wood flooring. Pilgrims can now have darshans in four simultaneous rows, reducing waiting times and enhancing their experience.” He added that a canopy has been installed over the stairs at the Holy Cave, offering protection against rain, snowfall, and the sun.

The Lieutenant Governor also emphasized the upgraded healthcare facilities, stating, “This year, we have expanded the clinical bed capacities at Panjtarni and upper camps, and 100-bedded hospitals are operational along both Yatra axes to provide medical assistance when needed.”

Cleanliness and sustainability have been prioritized this year, with measures ensuring the pilgrimage remains environmentally conscious. Additional facilities include prasad counters, a foot overbridge at the Nunwan base camp, cloakrooms, and e-rickshaw services for enhanced mobility.

He also acknowledged the contributions of local residents and media personnel, saying, “The support of the media and local residents has been invaluable in ensuring the success of the Yatra. I am grateful for their cooperation and enthusiasm.”

The Lieutenant Governor urged devotees to follow safety protocols and travel in designated convoys. “We have taken every step to make the Yatra a spiritually enriching and safe experience. I appeal to devotees to join in large numbers and embark on this sacred journey,” he concluded.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 promises to be a well-organized and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage, reflecting the commitment of the administration to provide a memorable experience for all devotees.
