MeT Predicts Snow in Upper Reaches & Rain in Plains from Sunday

Srinagar : Amid dry and pleasant weather in Kashmir Valley, the Meteorological Department has predicted wet spells again.

According to a spokesperson of the concerned department, the overall weather in Kashmir Valley is likely to remain dry till March 20, however, there may be light snow or rain for three days after that.

He said that snowfall is expected in the valley from March 21 to 23 in which the plains may receive moderate rain showers in plains on March 22 and snow in upper reaches.

Central Kashmir’s Srinagar city recorded a low of 6.2°C against 5.6°C on the previous night. The minimum temperature was 4.7°C above normal for this time of the year in this summer capital.

South Kashmir’s Qazigund recorded a low of 5.2°C , same as on the previous night while mercury settled at 3.7°C against minus 2.0°C on the earlier night at Pahalgam.

While South Kashmir’s Kokernag recorded a low of 5.0°C against previous night’s 4.2°C. On the other hand minimum temperature settled at 5.2°C in North Kashmir’s Kupwara against 3.0°C on the previous night.

Famous tourist spot Gulmarg recorded a minimum temperature of minus0.5°C against minus 1.4°C on the previous night, the official said.

Meanwhile MeT spokesperson predicted scattered light rain in Kashmir division and isolated very light rain in Jammu division in next 24 hours. (CNS)
