COVID-19: 4 more deaths, 280 positive cases in J&K

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Wednesday witnessed 04 deaths due to Covid-19 while 280 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 3,439.

With 04 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached 4,349 and 280 fresh positive cases reported on Wednesday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 317,761.

Of the exact number of 317,7611 cases, 197,338 are from Kashmir division and 120,423 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 280 new cases, 149 belong to Kashmir division while as 131 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 197,338 including 193,182 recoveries and 2,226 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 120,423 including 116,791 recoveries and 2,123 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 3,439 including 1,903 from Kashmir division and 1,509 from Jammu division.

With 419 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 309,973 which is 97.54 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 49 from Srinagar, 08 from Baramulla, 16 from Budgam, 12 from Pulwama, 17 from Kupwara, 13 from Anantnag, 07 from Bandipora, 16 from Ganderbal, 10 from Kulgam and 01 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 131 from Jammu division include 18 from Jammu, 06 from Udhampur, 08 from Rajouri, 36 from Doda, 01 from Kathua, 00 from Samba, 06 from Kishtwar, 02 from Poonch, 05 from Ramban and 49 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities on Wednesday said that no fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and toll of total cases of Mucormycosis stands at 30.

Out of 04 deaths reported today, 01 died in GMC Jammu, 02 in GMC Rajouri and 01 died in SKIMS Soura.

As per officials figures, 70,457 positive cases including 830 deaths and 68,954 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,346 including 280 deaths and 22,842 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,698 including 22,299 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 14,987 including 14,645 recoveries and 192 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,902 including 165 deaths and 13,567 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,191 including 15,882 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,357 cases including 9,175 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,694 including 9,436 recoveries and 77 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,143 including 10,887 recoveries and 116 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,563 including 5,495 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,475 including 50,923 recoveries and 1,137 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,213 including 11,021 recoveries and 132 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,765 including 10,451 recoveries and 222 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,970 including 6,631 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Doda, 9,220 including 9,057 recoveries and 149 deaths are from Kathua, 7,091 including 6,924 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Samba, 4,531 including 4,378 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,150 including 5,877 recoveries and 94 deaths are from Poonch, 5,881 including 5,740 recoveries and 65 deaths are from Ramban and 6,127 including 5,790 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,505,718 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 8,754 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 3,439 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,235,177 persons have completed the surveillance period and 253,999 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 10,379,791 samples are available. Out of 10,379,791 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,006,030 while as 317,761 have tested positive, among them 3,439 persons are active, 309,973 persons have recovered and 4,349 persons have died—(KNO)
