Plan, executive effectively

The Dal dwellers who have been rehabilitated by the administration continue to face difficulties due to the absence of basic facilities at the place where they have been rehabilitated in the city outskirts. The Government needs to be serious about their rehabilitation and the subsequent conservation of the world-famous Dal Lake.

At present, the people who were shifted from the Dal interiors to the Rakh-e-Aarath, san every basic civic amenity—there are no schools, no health care facilities, no round the clock water supply and not to talk to electricity. Even though they had every facility at their disposal in Dal, but were shifted with a promise of providing them with the land and the required compensation to build their houses, however, now, these people feel cheated as they have been given nothing and continue to suffer.

If the administration would have rehabilitated these people as per a well-thought-out policy which would have seen an effective implementation on the ground, it would have paved a way for getting more people out of Dal and which in turn would have led to effective restoration and conservation of the Dal—something which has been going on for years now without any achievement.

Over the years, the faulty and ill-executed policies of the administration have proved that if the same continues, the target of getting the Dal dwellers out, rehabilitating them as per the promises and then carrying out the necessary works of fully conserving and restoring the Dal is never going to be achieved. There is a need for a plan coupled with the effective, foolproof implementation of the same.
