People are facing immense hardships due to the sky-rocketing petrol prices. In Srinagar, the petrol prices have crossed the Rs 115 mark which is not only worrying but also depicts the state of inflation and the rise in prices will lead to a rise in the prices of essential commodities. As of now, it has become very difficult for a common man to make his ends meet and the income remains the same, even in some cases, the income has taken a dip, while the expenses have shot up making it difficult for a common man to live the life as he used to way back 6 years down the line.
The pandemic added to it. It might have been possible for the commoners to take on to the price rise, but the dip in the income has taken a further hit. Even in some cases, people who have lost their jobs have been left with nothing. Such people have come down on the level of poverty after they were pushed down from the middle class. And those who were already in the lower-middle-class category, are leading a difficult life as of now.
There is a need for the Government to take measures to address the price rise. There is a need for infusing more strength in the economy so that the rising fuel prices are brought under control. The pace of routine price rise of per litre fuel indicates that we might soon reach Rs 150 per litre milestone. While we hope not to see such a phase, the Govt must realize the sensitivity of the situation and take the necessary steps.
