Srinagar: JKNC’s Omar Abdullah, PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti, Waheed ur Rehman Parra and JKPC’s Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday conceded defeat against their opponents, who were marching ahead with copious amounts of votes in the Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seats.
As per the news agency CNS, after assuming his defeat around the corner in the Lok Sabha Baramulla Constituency as Er. Abdul Rashid Sheikh was forging ahead with an impressive lead in votes, Omar Abdullah blazed a trail with his defeat-accepting post on X followed by other political leaders, who, after feeling in the same boat, also accepted their defeat during the afternoon.
Regarding the developments, Omar Abdullah in his post on X said, “I think it’s time to accept the inevitable. Congratulations to Engineer Rashid for his victory in North Kashmir. I don’t believe his victory will hasten his release from prison nor will the people of North Kashmir get the representation they have a right to but the voters have spoken and in a democracy that’s all that matters.”
“Respecting the verdict of the people I thank my PDP workers & leaders for their hard work & support despite all the odds. My deepest gratitude to the people who voted for me. Winning & losing is part of the game & wont deter us from our path. Congratulations to Mian sahab for his victory,” PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti wrote in a post on X.
“With all humility at my command I accept defeat. And it is time to congratulate Engineer Rashid. I wanted to make a difference. I thought we should be empowered economically , socially and politically to be able to make a difference and be counted. We had suffered a lot in the past 30 yrs and been robbed of all our dignity. The people’s mandate is supreme. I accept the people mandate with all humility,” JKPC’s Baramulla seat candidate Sajad Lone said in a post on X.
The PDP leader Waheed Parra who was in the fray for the Srinagar seat said, “Kashmiris, after years of silence, have boldly spoken out through their votes for the first time – to break the cycle of silence and to reclaim voice. Congratulations to @RuhullahMehdi sb, Er Rashid sb & Mia Altaf sb on their victory. Thanking @MehboobaMufti Ji and @jkpdp supporters for all the help.” (CNS)
