Nowshera Incident: Man allegedly tried to snatch soldier’s weapon, was restrained

Jammu: In the backdrop of the alleged manhandling of a civilian by the Army in Nowshera area of Rajouri district, the Indian Army on Friday in an official statement said that the individual tried to snatch the weapon of soldiers and initiated a scuffle with them.
“An incident has come to light wherein certain individuals were allegedly manhandled by Army personnel in Rajouri District,” the Army said in a statement.
It further said that the Army had input on the likely movement of terrorists in a vehicle in this sensitive area, adding, “Accordingly, search operations were being conducted.”
Preliminary information suggests that on being stopped, the individual tried to snatch the weapon from the soldiers on duty and initiated a scuffle with them, it further read.

“The Indian Army remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in the conduct of counter terror operations,” the statement read, adding, “all sections of the society are requested to continue to cooperate and collaborate with the Indian Army for collective and comprehensive security in this sensitive area.”

Pertinently, it’s worth to mention here that, security forces play a critical role in safeguarding the public and maintaining national safety. They are trained professionals entrusted with a serious responsibility. Even a minor lapse in their duties—such as a missed security check or overlooked warning sign—can open the door to devastating consequences, including potential terrorist attacks. Their vigilance, discipline, and adherence to protocol are essential to preventing threats and ensuring the safety of all.
