2 JeM militants killed in Bijbehara encounter

Anantnag: Police said on Thursday said that two militants were killed during a security operation in Kandipora, Bijbehara area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Kashmir Zone Police on Thursday morning tweeted that the encounter at Kandipora, Beijhbhera ended with the killing of two unidentified militants.

While talking to CNS SSP Anantnag Sandeep Chaudhary (IPS) said that acting on the specific input about the presence of militants in the Kandipora area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Police, Army’s 3 RR and CRPF cordoned off the whole area on Wednesday evening; all entry and exit points were sealed.

While carrying out the searches as soon as the joint team of the government forces rushed towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire on the searching party triggering an encounter, the exchange of fire between the two sides was going on till morning in Kandipora on last night and forces suspended the operation due to darkness.

However, the exchange of fire between the two sides started again on Thursday morning during which the encounter ended with the killing of two local militants

Reportedly, the duo were identified as Adil Ahmad Bhatt and Zahir Ameen Rather affiliated with the Jaish-e-Muhammad militant outfit. An AK47 rifle and a pistol was recovered from their possession

Meanwhile mobile internet services have been suspended in the area as a precautionary measure. (CNS)
