Too much delay isn’t good

People are facing many difficulties in the absence of consumer courts in J&K. They have got a lot of complaints, but who is there is address their issues that they are facing day in and day out. There is once again a need of pressing for the issue.

The public is desperately seeking the resumption of the proceedings in cases that were lying pending, however, the absence of such forums after the abrogation of Article 370 last year; such processes have come to a grinding halt. There are also apprehensions about the validity of those pending cases in the new environment.

As of now, there are no consumer forums functional in J&K and the customers who want resolution of their issues have got nowhere to go. The frauds that are taking the customers for a ride are openly carrying out their businesses while the gullible public is falling prey to such people. But the government does not seem to be bothered about it as the issue continues to linger.

The public delegations that brought to the notice of the media that they have been cheated or taken for a ride by several business outlets here and outside J&K and that they want to drag them to the court, however, in the absence of such platforms that don’t have anywhere to go.

The Government must take steps to make such courts functional again in J&K so that the common masses get justice in the cases where they have been cheated or subjected to fraud. There is a need of coming to the rescue of commoners who are facing an array of issues that can only be resolved, sorted out by consumer courts. In the absence of it, the people have been left open to be exploited
