New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that India has made it clear no shelter is safe for terrorists who shed the blood of Indian citizens, citing the swift and decisive success of ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a reflection of the country’s uncompromising stance on terrorism and growing defence self-reliance.
Addressing the centenary celebrations of the historic meeting between Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said the world had witnessed India’s strength and clarity in fighting terrorism.
“Our forces compelled the enemy to surrender within 22 minutes using Made-in-India weapons. India’s dependence on foreign arms is reducing rapidly,” PM Modi said, according to Press Information Bureau (PIB).
Highlighting the country’s strides in indigenous defence manufacturing, he expressed confidence that Indian-made arms will soon gain global recognition.
Listing achievements of his government, Modi said their administration had turned public service into a mission, uplifting millions of poor citizens who earlier lived without basic amenities. “Today, every poor family is getting a permanent home under PM Awas Yojana. These homes come with electricity, gas and sanitation,” he said.
He also spoke about the transformational impact of initiatives like Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Janman Yojana and Skill India, especially in tribal and marginalised regions. “Even those who were once at the lowest rungs of society now see themselves as part of nation-building,” he added.
Underscoring women empowerment and inclusive development, Modi said, “From sports to space, women are making the country proud.” He noted that restrictions once barring women’s entry into key sectors have been removed.
PM Modi also credited the New Education Policy with modernising the education system, especially benefiting the underprivileged. “In the past decade, we have established more IITs, IIMs and AIIMS than were set up in the first 60 years of independence,” he said.
The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming India’s leadership in global sustainability initiatives such as ‘One Earth, One Health’, and ‘One Sun, One World, One Grid’, calling them extensions of the nation’s civilizational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
